Please remember to allow at least 2 full working days for your prescription to be processed.
Repeat prescriptions are in two parts: the left-hand side (green) is the prescription itself which you take to the pharmacy to get your medication. The right-hand side (white) is a list of your repeat medication, ie all the medication you have on a regular basis; you should keep this part to order your next supply of medication.
You will have been notified via a slip attached to your previous prescription if the doctor or nurse needs to see you before a particular medication can be issued.
To request a repeat prescription, please tick the items you require on the right-hand side of your previous prescription or complete a slip at the reception desk.
Prescription requests may be deposited at/collected from:
If you leave your request at the Medical Centre but wish to collect from Boots, Bembridge, you will need to contact Boots, Bembridge (Tel: 01983 872328) to ask them to collect from the Medical Centre. Similarly, if you leave your request at the Medical Centre but wish to collect from Seaview Pharmacy, St Helens News or Vic’s Stores, you will need to contact Seaview Pharmacy Tel: 01983 613116 to arrange.
Both pharmacies offer a personal prescription collection service – please contact direct for details.
For security reasons we are unable to accept telephone or verbal requests for repeat prescriptions, but we can accept faxed (01983 874800) or email requests. Written requests may be posted through the door at the Medical Centre when the surgery is closed or deposited in the secure box just inside the door during opening hours.
If someone other than yourself collects your prescription, you should be aware you are allowing that person access to your personal and clinical data. Please indicate at time of ordering medication if you would like the prescription put in an envelope for collection.
If you require contraception/HRT treatment, you must make an appointment as prescriptions cannot be issued without seeing a doctor or nurse.
If you pay prescription charges and need more than 5 prescription items in 3 months or 14 prescription items in 12 months, you could save money by buying a Prescription Pre-payment certificate (PPC). Please ask at reception for a leaflet and current charges.
There are a number of ways that we can reduce unnecessary expenditure on medicines, releasing money to spend on other NHS services. The GPs in this practice fully endorse the efforts of the Isle of Wight NHS Primary Care Trust to cut drug wastage and prescribe cost effectively. Many patients who require regular medication will have already received letters from a team of nurses and technicians working with the GPs. These letters may discuss changes to medication which will either produce a clinical benefit or provide greater cost effectiveness at no clinical detriment to the patient. We accept that occasionally these changes will not suit everyone and consequently request that you contact one of our Medicines Management Nurses using the telephone number on the letter if you are concerned, need further information or believe the change suggested are inappropriate for you.
